Neck Liposuction

Neck liposuction is a perfect solution for those wishing to improve their appearance and look younger. The neck is often the first part of the body on which signs of aging appear. Women in their 40ís and younger with firm, toned bodies and smooth, tight skin find their necks starting to sag and wrinkle. Men may begin to see jowls where a smooth jaw-line used to be. Itís a fact: as you age, your skin loses its elasticity, and the neck is often where sagging first shows up.

But thanks to recent advances in neck liposuction, there is no reason to let jowls or a small waddle take away from your appearance. Whether you choose to accent it with jewelry, dress it up with scarves or leave it smooth and bare, your neck should create a smooth and graceful line connecting your torso to your face, not a tell-tale sign broadcasting your true age to the world.

What is the neck lipo procedure like?

For the neck area, new advanced liposuction procedures (like laser liposuction) offer the ability to target and sculpt this smaller area like never before. These advanced neck liposuction procedures use small cannulas inserted through tiny incisions (usually leaving no scars). Technologies like laser both melt away the small volume fat deposits (making their removal via suction easier) and tighten the overlying skin. The entire neck liposuction procedure may be completed in as little as 30 minutes, and is commonly done in the office under local anesthesia. The result is a more sculpted appearance in the neck with less saggy, loose skin.

What is recovery from neck liposuction like?

You will be instructed to wear a compression bandage that wraps around your neck to hold the incision closed and to keep swelling down. For the first few days, it is best to wear the compression bandage constantly; later you can take it off at times. Your neck might show some swelling and bruising, but if you continue to wear the wrap, this should diminish quickly. Recovery may be mostly complete in as little as a week and long-term scarring should be minimal (if not absent).

Who is a good candidate for neck liposuction?

Neck liposuction can benefit women and men from young to old; anyone whose neck has begun to lose that nice sculpted appearance through the growth of localized fat deposits or loose skin. Many patients consider neck liposuction as an alternative to a full-on face lift, allowing them to achieve their body contouring goals without undergoing a major procedure.

How is this different from a face lift?

Neck liposuction today is much less invasive than a face lift, with a much easier recovery. For the right candidates , with specific areas of localized fat deposits around the neck (and/or) chin and some minor skin laxity, neck liposuction will work very well . Neck liposuction does not treat the entire face, but also should result in less swelling and bruising.
